The proposal would provide $8.5 million over 2 years to reinvigorate Central Australia's tourism industry to develop new tourism experiences, attract visitors and back small business.

The multi-pronged investment is designed to revitalise the region’s tourism economy which has faced challenges in recent years. It includes marketing initiatives and targeted support to help operators and delivers both short and long-term opportunities.

The proposal would provide $10 million over 2 years for a Reef Educational Experience Fund (REEF) to boost education and awareness for schools, tourism operators, and international visitors, while highlighting the importance of sustainable tourism.

Under the fund, $6 million will be allocated to the ‘Kids for the Reef’ rebate program, which will offer subsidised excursions to the reef for schools across Australia, making it easier for children to learn and experience the natural wonder first-hand.

The proposal would also withdraw Australia's membership and cease capital contributions and funding to the: 

• Asian Development Bank (ADB)
• Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)
• European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRO)
• World Bank Group (WBG)
• International Monetary Fund (IMF).

This proposal would have effect from 1 July 2017.
