Modify Commonwealth Prac Payments
The proposal would replace the existing Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) with a concessional loan arrangement.
The total amount of the CPP (depending on the length of the work placement requirement for each study field), paid to eligible students under the 2024-25 Budget measure Australian Universities Accord – tertiary education system reforms, would be converted to a concessional loan, added to each student’s Higher Education Loan Program (HELP) debt.
The proposal would be ongoing and start on 1 July 2025.
