Review of women-specific health items on the MBS and PBS

Summary of proposal

The proposal would provide $5 million in 2025-26 to review women-specific health items on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) and corresponding treatments on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Schedule (PBS). This review would identify best practice women-specific medical services which should be included, and ensure clinically effective services and treatments remain affordable and accessible to better support women’s health and wellbeing.

The proposal would be non-ongoing and start from 1 July 2025.

Outcomes-based indigenous health delivery – CareFlight investment

Summary of proposal

The proposal would provide $10 million in 2025-26 to support CareFlight acquire an additional King Air B250 fixed wing aircraft to better service the Top End. The additional aircraft would supplement CareFlight’s current fleet of fixed wing aircraft servicing remote communities in the Top End and would provide additional care for approximately 700 patients per year.

The funding profile would be $16 million in 2025-26 and $4 million in 2026-27.
