The proposal would provide $50 million annually from 2026-27, indexed to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) each year thereafter, to establish a secure work fund for Australia's universities and research institutes. The proposal would support researchers transition into secure employment.

The proposal would be ongoing, include departmental funding from within the capped amount and start on 1 July 2026.
