The proposal would provide $500 million over 5 years to boost recycling capacity in Australia, by investing in infrastructure and innovative technologies, including creating secondary markets for recycled materials.

The proposal would be non-ongoing, distribute funding evenly over 5 years and include departmental funding from within the capped amount.

The proposal would start on 1 July 2026.
