The proposal would provide $500 million over 5 years to expand food organic and garden organic services by investing in collection and processing infrastructure to divert organic waste from landfills.

The proposal would be non-ongoing, distribute funding evenly over 5 years, include departmental funding within the capped amount, and start from 1 July 2026.
