The proposal would provide $25.6 million over 4 years to support 600 community schools across Australia that help more than 90,000 students learn 84 languages. It would include $5 million towards Asian language training to help more students become fluent in Asian languages through to Years 11 and 12.

The funding would be distributed as follows: $5.5 million in 2025-26, $7.6 million in 2026-27, $7.6 million in 2027-28 and $4.9 million in 2028-29.

The proposal would be non-ongoing and start from 1 July 2025.
