The proposal would provide grants and low-interest loans for households and small businesses who stop using gas.

For households a grant of up to $10,000 and low interest loans of up to $20,000 will be offered. For small businesses, grants will be up to $25,000 and loans up to $100,000.

The grant component is limited to 20% of the total cost of the replacement project, but can be increased to 50% for a household or business if it agrees to disconnect from the gas grid entirely within 6 months.

The proposal would be ongoing and start on 1 July 2025.
