Climate change and energy - strengthen frontline response of emergency services
The proposal would provide $5 billion over 10 years to support fire and emergency services across the states and territories. Funding would be administered through grants to address difficulties in upgrading equipment, bushfire prevention and land management programs, as well as supporting the hiring and training of new personnel.
The proposal would be non-ongoing, distribute funding evenly over 10 years, include additional funding for departmental expenses and start from 1 July 2025.
