Small business incubator grants program

Summary of proposal

This proposal would support small business growth and innovation by establishing a small business incubator to provide 1,000 grants of $250,000 and 10,000 grants of $50,000–$75,000 for startups and cooperatives that enhance local economies and create jobs.

Additionally, this proposal would provide certainty for small businesses by extending the $20,000 instant asset write-off (IAWO) and the Small Business Energy Incentive Scheme to 1 July 2026.

The proposal would start on 1 July 2025.

Entrepreneurship Accelerator tax incentive

Summary of proposal

The policy would create an Entrepreneur Accelerator Tax Incentive (EATI) that reduces the taxable income for new companies. Under the EATI, start-ups will receive a tapered reduction in tax on their first $200,000 of taxable income over three years. The reduction would only be available to incorporated entities (companies) and would be available for the first 3 years after a company’s incorporation.

The policy start date is 1 July 2025.

The proposal would establish a Supermarket Commissioner, to act as a confidential avenue for farmers and suppliers to make complaints about supermarket conduct. The Supermarket Commissioner would also provide information and provide referrals to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
