Greens launch plan to protect Great Southern Reef – Fund a national investment of $55 million into Centrostephanus control
The proposal would provide $55 million over 5 years to fund a national investment into Centrostephanus control, guided by a 5-year action plan. The proposal would include establishing a National Centrostephanus Advisory Group including representatives from First Nations, industry, researchers, commercial dive, processing and the recreational dive sector, to provide guidance, codesign, coordination and delivery.
The proposal would be non-ongoing, distribute funding evenly over 5 years, include departmental costs from within the capped amount and start from 1 July 2026.
